  • Programme Name: Japan Connect 2025 (Subtitle: Malaysian Public Sector Meets Japan's Industry Titans)

  • Theme / Subtitle: Continuous improvement, modernization, and capacity building for the public sector by exposing Malaysian officials to international best practices and innovative corporate management systems like 'Kaizen'.

  • Summary: A strategic initiative designed to send Malaysian public sector officials to Japan for structured industry attachments inside leading corporate entities to enhance the capabilities, governance, and service delivery of Malaysia's public sector workforce.

2. Date & Venue

  • Date: May 2025 / June 2025 (Total Course Duration: 5 Weeks)

  • Venue: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (for Weeks 1 & 5) and Japan (for Weeks 2 to 4)

  • Organizers: IEG Campus and UNIRAZAK (Universiti Tun Abdul Razak)

4. Key Objectives

  • Capacity Building: Enhance the core skills, operational knowledge, and administrative competencies of public sector officials through direct exposure to advanced Japanese management practices.

  • Innovation & Best Practices: Introduce innovative conceptual frameworks and modern strategies (e.g., quality management and transparency) from Japan into the Malaysian public sector to refine service delivery.

  • Cultural Exchange & Networking: Foster cross-cultural understanding, broaden the global outlook of officials, and establish strong professional networks with Japanese counterparts for future partnerships.

  • Improved Public Service: Apply the insights, structural documentation, and practical experiences gained from the corporate sector to directly modernize governance and public policy back in Malaysia.

5. Event Highlights

  • Three-Phase Structured Itinerary: Combines a 1-week pre-departure training phase in Kuala Lumpur, a core 3-week hands-on attachment in Japan, and a final 1-week post-training reflection and implementation mapping phase in Kuala Lumpur.

  • Corporate Immersive Attachments: Practical on-the-job training, project-based activities, shadowing opportunities, and inclusion in corporate decision-making discussions within top-tier private companies.

  • Access to Japan’s Corporate Titans: Networking and training exposure tied to a target list of 20 elite global enterprises, including manufacturing, tech, and financial giants like Toyota, Sony, Honda, SoftBank, Fujitsu, and NEC.

  • Structured Mutual Learning Framework: A win-win collaborative design where government officers bring public sector expertise to private entities, while receiving dedicated corporate supervision, mentorship, and operational feedback.
